Assistant Residence Hall Coordinator. This position is a Graduate Assistantship.

This is approximately a 10-month live-on position providing a furnished apartment (may be shared), tuition waiver, and a starting salary of $800 per month with opportunities for summer employment.

The Assistant Residence Hall Coordinator (Graduate Assistant) serves as the primary assistant to the Residence Hall Coordinator in providing leadership for a residence hall housing 400-800 students.

Duties

  1. Provides training, development and supervision of a service area (e.g. Reception Desk, Fitness Center, or Recycling) and manages service area budget.
  2. Assists with the training and development of the paraprofessional staff.
  3. Utilizes student development and wellness models to direct staff in their programming efforts and assist students with adjustment issues.
  4. Promotes diversity and community building activities.
  5. Advises student government or special focus groups.
  6. May serve on a standing committee for the department.
  7. Adjudicates policy infractions in conjunction with the judicial office.
  8. Assists with on call and 24 hour duty rotation for the area.
  9. Must have sensitivity to multicultural issues and support a diverse environment.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Cumulative minimum grade point average of 2.8 (4.0 scale) or above for the last 60 hours of undergraduate work and admittance to a Master's degree granting program at Illinois State University. Employment contingent on criminal background investigation pursuant to Public Act 88-629.
