The Area Coordinator plays an intricate role in fostering the creation of positive residential communities through leadership, supervision and staff development and is responsible for the administration of a residence hall complex housing 1,200 to 2,400 students.
Duties
- Supervises full-time residence hall staff and graduate staff.
- Provides training, development and supervision of full-time professional, graduate and paraprofessional staff particularly in the areas of community building, policy implementation, emergency procedures and diversity.
- Utilizes student development and wellness models to direct staff in their programming efforts and assist and mentor students with adjustment issues.
- Coordinates housing and other duties for the Summer Conference program.
- Serves as a liaison to other university departments.
- Must have sensitivity to multicultural issues and support a diverse environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree required (US equivalent, College Student Personnel or related area of study preferred) and three years full time (post Master's) experience in residence halls required at time of hire. Employment contingent on criminal background investigation pursuant to Public Act 88-629.
