This page provides Future Residents important information on how to complete a housing application-Contract.
This page also contains information on the overall housing room selection process For New Students. This information is broken down depending upon which semester you have been admitted for. Please make sure you know which semester/term you have been admitted for. If you have any questions, you may contact University Housing Services at (309) 438-8611.
In order to complete your application-contract you will need to establish a Welcome2ISU account. Many of you did this when you applied to ISU. If you did not establish an account, you can activate one on the Welcom2ISU site. You will also need a credit or debit card to pay your housing deposit. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover cards.
Completing the Housing Application-Contract is the first step in signing up for housing at ISU. Actually selecting a room will take place at a later date.
Beginning October 1, 2009, the Housing Application-Contracts channel at www.welcome2isu.ilstu.edu will be made active. At that time all new students for the Spring 2010 can complete a housing application-contract. See the steps listed below on how to complete the application-contract.
Once the contract is completed, students are sent information regarding going online to fill out a Room/Roommate Preference Form. New spring students can submit specific room or roommate preferences through this online form.
Beginning in December 2009, University Housing staff will then make the room assignments based on the preferences submitted and the spaces available. Room assignments for new spring residence hall students will be available to view online beginning mid-December.
Spring 2010 timeline

| October 1 - December 7, 2009 | Students may go online and complete a “Preference Form” and list any room/roommate preferences for assignment. Students interested in a single room may place their names on the Singles Waiting List

| December 7 - December 23, 2009 | Assignment Staff will make students’ room assignments. If you are not assigned to one of your preferences, it is because space was not available.

| December 14 - January 7, 2009 | Room assignment notices, including roommate name and contact information, are available online

Beginning early April, Summer Housing Application-Contracts are mailed upon request. Students will complete the application-contract, submit a housing deposit, and return this information to University Housing Services by May 1, 2010. Summer housing assignments will be made beginning, May 1, 2009 and students will be notified via e-mail.
Beginning on Monday, February 22, 2010, newly admitted students for the Fall 2010 semester can submit their residence hall application-contract through the University’s personalized web portal system, called Welcome2ISU. Although there is no deadline for submitting the application-contract, admission to the University does not guarantee a space in the residence halls. If we run out of space in regular rooms, students may be offered space in supplemental housing (study lounges converted into student rooms). The date of application also affects a student’s priority for room selection/assignment. For those reasons, students are encouraged to submit their housing application-contract as early as possible.

| May 24 - May 28 | Themed Living Learning Communities (TLLCs) room selection begins. Student who have been applied and approved to live in a TLLC will be able to select their room during this time.

The online room selection program begins. (Details will be provided in the room selection instructions sent in May).

| Starting Monday, July 19 | Manual Assignments will begin for those students not able to select their own room in the room selection process

At ISU, most—but not all—new students get to select their own room through a web-based online room selection program. However, each year there are a number of students who are manually assigned by University Housing Services. We are not able to determine in advance who will get to select their own room and who will be assigned by the Housing office. A cutoff date will be established after we have received the majority of expected contracts. Students whose contracts were submitted before the cutoff point will select their own rooms online. Students whose contracts were submitted after the cutoff point will be assigned by University Housing Services.
We cannot establish the cutoff date in advance because it is based on contracts received from returning students throughout the spring semester, the number of contracts submitted by new students, the number of contract cancellations received, and the balance of male and female spaces, all which vary from year-to-year. Last year, students whose application contracts were received after mid-April were assigned by University Housing Services.
Beginning May 15, University Housing Services will notify each student as to whether they will select their own room through the online room selection process or if they will be assigned by the Housing office.
Important: If you are a new beginning freshman (never enrolled in a college or university since high school), you are required to submit the Enrollment Confirmation and Deposit. Please visit the Admissions Web site for more information.
Please note that University Housing Services oversees the residence hall application-contract process while Campus Dining Services oversees the meal plan contract process.
