Thank you for requesting information about the Illinois State University Apartment Living complexes. Listed below is some information you should know as you are completing the application form.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL STUDENT RESIDENTS
- All single students and the Designated Resident of married couples must be enrolled in a DEGREE program.
- Enrollment for seven or more hours during the fall and spring semesters (unless fewer hours are needed for degree completion) and four hours at the time of summer session occupancy is necessary.
- Continuing residents need not register for summer if pre-registered for the fall semester for seven or more hours.
- Exceptions requested in writing, in advance, may be granted.
- Please submit a copy of your marriage certificate with your application.
- If your marriage certificate is in a language other than English, a translated copy must be submitted.
- If you are engaged, a copy of your marriage certificate must be submitted within two weeks of your marriage along with a statement indicating how your names should appear on Apartment Living records.
- If you are engaged, only one of you may occupy an apartment, if available, three weeks or less before the marriage date.
- If the dependent is a child, a copy of the child's birth certificate showing the student as parent must be submitted.
- If the birth certificate is in a language other than English, a translated copy must be submitted.
- If the dependent is a child not yet born, a physician's statement confirming the pregnancy and expected date of delivery must be submitted.
- If the dependent is a child over the age of 18, a birth certificate and documentation showing that the child is a dependent must be submitted (for example, income tax records).
- If the dependent is a person other than a spouse or a biological child, documentation of dependency must be submitted (i.e., income tax records, legal custody/guardianship papers).
- Passports with entry visas for a spouse and/or child may be used as documentation.
- Documentation should be submitted with the application and must be accepted prior to an apartment offer being made.
- Documentation that confirms the student resident provides a home for the dependent more than fifty percent (50%) of the time is required.
- Must meet the enrollment requirements listed above.
- Single students must have attained Junior or Senior class standing.
- An accumulated grade point average of 3.30 is required.
- Exceptions may be granted to the above when requested in writing, at the time of application.
- Must have no disciplinary record with the Student Dispute Resolution Services Office at the time of application and assignment.
- Complete and return the application as soon as possible. Your position on the waiting list is determined by the date the original application is received in the University Housing Services office.
- If you do not receive an acknowledgement of receipt of your application within three weeks, please contact us.
- Acknowledgement of receipt of the application is not a guarantee of an apartment nor does submitting this application obligate you to accept an apartment offer.
- Informational letters are sent to all applicants approximately two months before the opening of the semester for which they applied.
- Apartments are offered to qualified applicants on a continuous basis prior to and throughout each academic session.
- Leases begin on the day an apartment is available for occupancy - all leases expire in August.
