Other Charges
You may incur additional expenses beyond the regular room and board rates or the charges below. The following charges may be assessed depending on the student's final room assignment and pay plan:
Nine-month housing charge
Students living in Atkin-Colby and Hamilton-Whitten Halls are assessed a mandatory, nonrefundable $75 per semester charge because those halls open three days before the other residence halls and remain open throughout all University break periods (Thanksgiving, semester, and spring breaks).
Wilkins Hall Thanksgiving break charge
All residents of Wilkins Hall are assessed a mandatory, nonrefundable $30 charge since Wilkins remains open for Thanksgiving break. Students who do not want to pay for Thanksgiving break housing should attempt to select a different residence hall or request a room change. Inability to select a different room does not release the student from the charge, however.
Service charge
Students who elect to pay their room and board in installments are assessed a $30 per semester service charge. The service charge is also applicable if full payment of each semester's room and meal plan charge is not made by the August billing due date for fall and the January due date for spring. If the residence hall application-contract is submitted after the August billing due date, the $30 service will be assessed unless full payment is submitted to Student Accounts along with the residence hall application-contract. A deferred deposit agreement does not waive assessment of the service charge.
